Grendel is the huge monster that disrupts the mead-hall in Herot each night. Monsters are known for their bad temper, so when people say: "Have you ever felt the 'Grendel in you'?", a person would automatically think about a period in time when they lost their temper. I can think of a time when I had the "Grendel in me" come out.
One specific time that I can remember losing my temper would have to be the summer of 2000. My boyfriend and I had just started dating, and I had been putting him over everything else, including my family. I was having a bad day, so I decided to call my boyfriend to come get me. My mom was mad at me for something (I dont really remember what it was) that I had done earlier that day, and told me that I couldn't go anywhere. At that point, I was ready to explode.

Grendel (novel)I told her I was leaving no matter what she said. My mom and I started yelling at each other. It almost reached the point of violence(but it didn't). Then, I did something that I thought I would never do, and that was swear at my mom. I felt so bad after I had realized what had happened.
Everyone has a bad day now and then. I honestly can say that I regret swearing at my mom. The main reason I regret it, is that my anger was the one yelling, not me.
