In the early days of ASC much of the workforce were sourced from international shipyards, national shipyards or the Royal Australian Navy. ASC’s culture was inherited from others dockyards throughout the country and the world. This report has been established and researched because of some incidents discussed with me personally, by two separate females, at my place of employment who have encountered and been victims of sexual harassment. The experiences these ladies endured fit into the categories identified in this report. At the time of the alleged incidents sexual harassment procedures and policies did not appear clearly visible within our workplace.

Executive SummaryWith reference to Appendix A and B it is clear that ASC do comply with State and Federal Legislation of Sexual Harassment.

A written policy on its own is insufficient. A policy that is not implemented through communication, education and enforcement will be of little or no use in discharging liability.

With continued education which has begun to occur and continued reinforcement of the documented policies that do comply with legislation. A zero acceptance policy of any behavioural traits from individuals exhibiting the behaviour, greater training of Management and Senior Management of these policies and behavioural traits. Implementation of education programs detailing how to identify the traits and deal with the individuals and groups that display such behaviour. ASC has identified ,
