It was a hot, sticky July evening and the day that John moved into what was said to be a old haunted house. It all started one night when he was watching TV and he heard something. It seemed as if the noise was coming from the basement down the hall. John wasn't worried. He picked up a maglite from off of the kitchen counter and walked toward the basement door. He opened the door slowly hoping that the noise he heard was a heater vent and not a ghost. He didn't see much so he figured that it was in his best interest to look around and find out if the house was actually haunted and that it wasn't his friends messing with him.

A light flashed...then suddenly every thing disappeared. John was freaking out, he didn't know what to do so he went to his friend Joe's house.

He explained to Joe that his house was haunted yet Joe didn't believe him.

"Come over then!" John said

"NO!" exclaimed Joe

"Why?" John asked

"Because you said it was haunted!" Joe replied

"Wait....I thought you said you didn't believe me?!" John inquired

"Well, I changed my mind, said Joe, Hey, where is my mom?"

The two boys looked all over and still they couldn't find Joe's Mom. They were beginning to get worried when they discovered a hole in the wall. Joe looked inside and screamed in horror because what he saw was a ghost and it was eating his mom! As much as they wanted to save Joe's mother from becoming an hourdouirve, there wasn't much that they were going to do about it but run.

So they ran outside and confronted another ghost in a tree and then they looked over and saw a vampire sitting on top of an old beat up Ford. The two boys ran as fast as they could. As they were running Joe discovered that there was a police officer patroling the neighboring subdivision so they yelled over to him but they couldn't get his attention.

"HELP!!!!!" screamed John.

"MR. POLICE MAN.....HELP!!!!" bellowed Joe.

Finally the squad car turned down their road and was heading straight for the two boys. They were expecting to see a police officer driving the car but to their surprise it wasn't a police officer, it was another ghost driving the squad car. Joe ripped the door of the car open and kicked the ghost in the forehead knocking him out the passenger side window.

"GET IN!!" screamed Joe.

"Do you know what you are doing, neither of us have our license and..." John said.

"Get in or stay here with a half unconcious ghost, what's your decision?" asked Joe.

John slowly made his way into the squad car, wondering if he was about to do the right thing or not. He slammed the door behind him and looked at Joe with a cautious face.

"You know what you're doing, right?" John questioned.

"Of course I do." Remarked Joe.

Joe put the car in drive and started to hit the gas but they weren't moving.

"I thought you knew what you were doing." said John.

"I do, we must be caught on something." said Joe.

"Get out and see what the problem is." Joe said.

"No, you get out and check, you're the one in the driver's seat." John replied.

"Oh, I see how it is. The guy with the brain gets to die first, I don't like that idea, how about we both get out and look." Said Joe.

"Ok." John replied.

The two boys got out of the car to discover that there was a large crane keeping them from moving anywhere. There was no way possible that they were about to get that off so they walked to the nearest house to use a phone. When they go to the doorstep they found that the person who lived there had left the door ajar. Joe pushed the door open and called into the house but there wasn't any answer so the boys walked into the house to find an old lady lying on the floor with her mouth open wide and blood dripping out of it.

"Ok, now what are we supposed to do?" Questioned Joe.

"I don't know, you're the one with all of the ideas." John said.

"Well, right about now I'm open to any suggestions you have." Joe said.

"Considering the fact that there are ghosts all over this town I think that we need to get some heavy artillery and blow this place to pieces." John replied.

"What about the Marine Corps., they could help us." Joe said.

"Hmmm...do you know where the Marine Corps. is?" John asked.

"No, but I seen the commercial on T.V." Joe said.

"And you wonder why I'm in command." John replied.

"Who put you in command?" asked Joe.

"I did, so you WILL obey." commanded John.

"Oh yeah?!" yelled Joe.

"YEAH!" screamed John.

"FINE! Take 'em on yourself!" screamed Joe.

"Wait, I can't do it myself." John said.

"Then quit being mean." Joe said.

"Alright, truce?" John replied.

"Truce." Joe said.

"Well, we could go back to my house and get my mom's car and try and at least get out of this town." said John.

"Sounds like a plan to me." Joe said.

So the two boys started walking back to John's house. When they reached his house, John slowly opened the door and crept into the kitchen where his mom kept her purse. John saw the purse lying on the kitchen table to he tip toed over to it and started to unzip the purse when he was startled by a loud screeching noise. He looked over his shoulder and seen that sitting less than ten feet away was an ugly greenish-purple blob of whatever it was. John ran to the kitchen sink and sprayed the ghost with water to keep him from getting any closer. But to his surprise the ghost began to melt.

"Ah ha, I figured it out!" John exclaimed.

He ran out the front door to meet Joe out on the curb waiting for his arrival.

"Did you get the keys?" Joe asked.

"No, but I figured out something better." John said.

"When the ghosts are sprayed with water they melt down into a pile of mush." John explained.

"Hey, there's a fire hydrant right over there." Joe said.

"We need to get to the fire department as quick as possible." John said.

Joe and John ran as fast as they could up town to the fire department hoping someone there could help them. When they got there, they seen that it was completely abandoned. Not only was there no one there, there wasn't anyone anywhere, the town was empty.

"Grab the end of that hose." said John.

The two boys grabbed a large hose from off of one of the fire trucks and took it to the fire hydrant. After they hooked it up John ran into the house screaming up a storm to get the ghost's attention. After about five minutes ten of the ugliest creatures flew out of the house chasing after John.

"BLAST 'EM!" John screamed.

Joe turned the hydrant on and ten seconds later a stream of water was hurled out of the hose destroying any ghost that got in its path. One after one, they dropped like flies.

"We got 'em!" John exclaimed.

"Is that all of them?" Joe questioned.

"Yeah, every last one of them." John said.

"What about all of the people that are missing?" Joe asked.

"Well, we'll have to take it one day at a time, but for now, I'm hungry." John said.

"I'm with you on that one." said Joe.

"I'm sure everyone will be back sooner or later." John said.

"Yeah, I guess you're right." Joe responded.

And that was the end of the ghosts. Not but a few days later everyone returned back to Merryville and peace was restored among everyone.
