Assignment #1Bus 32301/28/2008Aging is the process of growing older, this is a process that can not be avoided, and is something that we all, whether knowingly or unknowingly, have accepted. When I think of aging, I am reminded of the riddle “What animal walks on four feet in the morning, walks on two feet in the midday, and walks on three feet in the evening?” As most already know this riddle refers to humans, and how we crawl as infants, walk on our two feet throughout the “prime” of our lives, and when we become old we depend on a cane. As we age we find that we change, both in positive and negative ways, and even of we fail to recognize this fact, the society that we live in does not fail in bring this fact to out attention.

An article that seemed to be widespread publication just a couple of weeks ago was an article about the sex lives of the elderly.

The Washington Post, along with numerous other newspapers, titled this article “Many Older Americans Have Active Sex Lives.” This struck me as somewhat of an odd title, because, even though I opt not to think about this, my assumption has been that age did not interfere with one’s sex life. The Washington Post reported that more than half of the people in the 75 to 85 age group reported being sexually active at least two to three times per month, and 23 percent were active at least once a week (Gardner, Amanda (2007) Older Americans Have Active Sex Lives (Electronic Version).
