The more popular version of Juno is the goddess Hera, who was the later goddess, and more of a detailed story today. (Cathedral 5)

Once the titan-war had finally ended, the universe was divided amongst all the gods. Hera became queen of the gods, she was goddess of women and marriage and a place where the 12 Olympian gods were forced to worship. Hera was far more beautiful then all humans, she was made a wife to her brother Zeus. Zeus was named as "the glorious one whom all the blessed throughout high Olympus reverence and honor even as Zeus who delights in thunder".(Pausanias 10.30.1)

Hera was raised as the most beautiful of the goddesses. The famous "garden of golden apples" was created by Gaia as a wedding present for Zeus and Hera. Hera and Zeus were very much in love during "the rein of Kronos". The rein had lasted three hundred years.

It is said by some that the marriage of Zeus and Hera was held in a place of the knosians. It is a place near the river Theren, a temple now stands there where the natives would recreate the marriage of Zeus and Hera as a play. (Dionysiaca 36.28)

Kronos, Hera's father was the youngest of the Titans, and "the god of time as it affects human life". Afraid that he would be over thrown by his son he swallowed each of his children, but Rhea saved the youngest Zeus. Rhea, Hera's mother was the goddess of the female body. After Kronos had swallowed the first five babies she ran away to the mountains, and gave birth to Zeus. She lived with Zeus until he was old enough to become power hungry and dethrone his father. (Homeric Hymn 970)
