Is Hewlett-Packard still a Visionary Company?

This essay considers whether HP is still a visionary company in the terms defined in Collins and Porras' book 'Built to Last'. I. Introduction

Purpose of the project work is to study, does Hewlett-Packard still meet requirements of visionary company, which are defined in Collins & Porras's book "Built to last". We will compare HP's history and HP today. We will also discuss, how the merger with Compaq could affect to corporate culture. That is important issue, because control in the HP is mainly informal and culture based.

We are also interested in employees' feelings on corporate strategy, and we will study, if HP's strategy is widely accepted among employees. And finally we will analyze HP's strategy statement, is it rather mission or strategy?

Our study is mainly done by comparing data from primary and secondary sources, which are listed in the following paragraph.
