In today's business atmosphere Human Resources (HR) plays an imperative role to the success of a company and/or organization. HR allows a corporation to focus by staying connected to both the corporations, objectives and business strategies. Within most companies the HR management team focuses on protecting, maintaining, and utilizing an effective work force. Furthermore HR managers, as any other manager utilizes the four basic functions of management, staffing, organizing, leading, and controlling. Throughout this paper the five ever changing roles of HR will be discussed, Globalization, Technology, Diversity, E-business, and Ethics.

GlobalizationGlobalization is defined as is international integration. It can be described as a process by which the people of the world are unified into a single society. This process is a combination of economic, technological, sociocultural and political forces. Globaliztion is both an inevitable and irreversible force, which has affected today's business atmosphere in positive and negative ways. HR professionals have responeded that the impact has been minimal and mostly on a mirco level (Berger, Marquardt).

TechnologyHuman Resource Management Systems (HRMS, EHRMS) is shaped as a collision between both HR management and Information Technology (IT). Overall the HRMS function is largely an administrative obligation, hence to a degree most companies and/or organizations have formalized selection, evaluation, and payroll process. Furthermore Human Capital Pool (HCP) has become a "key", yet complex activity for all HR professionals. This HR function enables the tracking or employee history… i.e. personal histories, skills, data capabilities, experience to payroll records. Due to the feasibility and wonder of technology many organizations are now using automated processing systems for the previously mentioned HR functions. As a result of the processing systems complexity and limited technical resources, HR heavily relays on IT technician support to maintain HRMS's (HRMS).
