Introduction

Companies have to figure out how they want to do whatever it is they are trying to do. In order for a company to achieve its goal(s), it has to come up with an organizational design. An organizational design is a plan for arranging and coordinating the activities of an organization for the purpose of fulfilling its mission and achieving its goals (Lewis, 2012). This is basically a way for the company to become better organized in order to implement its plan. Being organized is a very important component of a company's success. When a company is organized, operations will flow more smoothly than they would without an organizational design.

Company History

Walmart is an American retail company that sells general merchandise and groceries all around the world. It is the world's largest retailer, third biggest public company, largest private employer and one of the most valuable companies in the world. Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. is founded by Sam Walton on October 31, 1969. It operates retail stores in three major formats globally. The Company operates in three segments: the Walmart U.S., the Walmart International and the Sam's Club. Walmart U.S. segment generate sales in all 50 states in the United States and Puerto Rico, as well as Walmart's online retail operations, walmart.com. Walmart International segment has operated in 26 countries.
