An investigation into attitude toward television among children
This study was conducted to find out the effect of amusing and entertaining programs on time spent watching TV amongst children. The research was done through data was collected from 96 cases (38 male and 58 female, mean age = 11.15, SD = .562 years) with measures of gender, age, time spent watching TV; amusing and entertaining. Overall, the result shows that there were an obvious effect of the last factors on time spent watching TV. Furthermore, the results of this study provide a clear insight into the attitude of children toward viewing television particularly amusing and entertaining programs.
The TV is probably one of the most significant inventions in the last century. Television in fact deemed as equipment which is diffcult to find a house be empty from it around the world. In addition, in spite of the variety of the media and the strong appearance of internet, the television is still obtaining magnificent and huge importance among people from both gender and different ages particularly children.
For today's children TV has become one of the most vital things in their life. Livingstone (2002) pointed out that: "...for most children television remains far and a ways the most popular medium in term of time spent with it...) (pg.60). The television attracts children's attention from nearly age two. This in practice because television combines between sound and picture and thus it speaks directly for eyesight and hear sight.
