Abstract

I feel that, today, the Human Resource Management has become even more important facet of an organization than ever before. Business units that have become global players today have a daunting task to manage their work force. Mergers and Acquisition have become an integral part of a well-diversified and growing company and the most significant challenges organizations face in doing Mergers and Acquisition relate to people (Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU)). I am pursuing my ambition to be a Human Resource Consultant who addresses issues in a firm ranging from diversity, work-life balance issues, training, and compensation of employees, health-related issues, and performance evaluation.

However, on issues related to internal issues of an organization which are confronted by the employees of all ranks, I have a strong inclination on pursuing my career in.

One of the most recent issues in Human Resource Consulting has been the "Conflict of interest" (as stated by experts on corporate governance) among Executive compensation consultants hired by companies to offer executive pay compensation advice to the board. Since, I intend to become an HR consultant who provides employee benefits and compensation, the issue of America's Fortune 250 companies CEOs compensation increasing by 226%1 in a period of six years spanning from 2002-2008 by hiring external Human Resource Management Consultants is interesting to analyze and present my suggestion on the same. I would also like to stress emphasis on the importance of hiring independent HR consultant for the management and the executive compensation.
