Shopping is something people enjoy doing; on the other hand working is not something people enjoy, unless the job meets all the demands of the worker. In order to find out if a company suits a person, one must find information through researching the company and not just looking through the classifieds. Knowing a companies awards or recognition, financial standing, and benefits offered give job seekers a way to choose which company they would be best suited for, Wal-Mart or Target.

Wal-Mart, the largest retail company in the world, is known for its low prices, but Wal-Mart has other qualities that they have been recognized for. One quality that they have been awarded for was in 2002 which was the Ron Brown Award for Corporate Leadership, a presidential award that recognizes companies for outstanding achievement in employee and community relations. In 2004, Wal-Mart was included among the Top Family Friendly Companies for Hispanics by Vista Magazine.

Finally for three consecutive years, Wal-Mart was named the 3rd most admired company in America. Being a well known company and also being recognized for its accomplishments, the company has been able to strive to its best reaching higher than many companies have ever reached. (?Awards?? 1) One key factor that a job seeker should look for in choosing a company to work for is whether or not the company is financially stable. By looking at the financial records for Wal-Mart, one can defer that they are financially stable. Their global revenues for the fiscal year 2005 exceeded $285 billion and their net income surpassed $10 billion. It is said that their earnings grew tremendously this past year because they held less markdowns on merchandise, which generated higher profits without charging customers more.
