“Death solves all problems- no problem,” (brainyquotes.com). Joseph Stalin ruled Russia during World War II. He ruled even after the war because so many people were afraid to speak against him. He was feared by everyone in Russia which made him invincible from being double-crossed or spoke out against. Joseph Stalin was one of the most powerful and cruel dictators of the Soviet Union. His rule of terror caused death and suffering to millions of people.

Joseph Stalin was born December 21, 1879 in Gori, Georgia. His dad was an unsuccessful shoe maker which led to drinking and his violent tempers. Because of Joseph’s dad drinking problem he beat him and his mom. His mom would always cry when they were beat but Joseph did not cry once. Because of this Joseph developed deep cold hatred not only toward his dad but toward anyone who had power over him.

Joseph lived in a small house with brick floors and only 15 square feet. The house had only one window. Joseph’s family suffered cold winters and hot summers often with little or no food.

Joseph was a skinny and scrawny boy with many pockmarks from a severe case of smallpox at the age of seven. When Joseph was 7 years old he had a severe case of Smallpox and came very close to death. Three years later, he suffered from a more serious injury, his arm was injured which caused blood poising. Joseph lay in bed for 1 month and came very close to death once again.

Joseph’s dad died when he was 10 years old and his mom barley made enough money to feed Joseph and her.
