How anthony turned the crown around from brutus' speech I start with Brutus has just left Anthony alone to start his speech and had asked the crowd to stay and listen to him. If Brutus hadn't of asked the crowd to stay I don't think anybody would have listened to Anthony and would of all gone of down the road praising Brutus. Letting Anthony make his speech second was a very foolish thing to do as most people remember the second thing people say over the first, that was his first mistake. His second was leaving Anthony to make his speech unaccompanied and as Brutus hadn't checked Anthony's speech would not know what he was going to say.

Anthony then started his speech almost identically as brutus only changing one word, but it made an obvious difference, and it sent out more compassion towards the crowd. He then says act 3 scene 2 line 81, "the noble brutus hath told you Caesar was ambitious, if it were so it was a grievous fault, and grievously hath Caesar answered it".

This meant that because Caesar was ambitious he deserved to die. He then says act 3 scene 2 line 91"Brutus is an honourable man. He hath brought many captures home to Rome, whose ransom did the general coffers fill. Did this in Caesar seem ambitious? When that the poor hath cried, Caesar hath wept. Ambition should be made of sterner stuff, yet brutus says he was ambitious. And brutus is an honourable man" This meant Caesar was there for the people, that he cared. Yet brutus said he was ambitious and deserved to die, Anthony suggested the question to the crowd.

Act 3 scene 2 line 106"you all did love him once, not without cause, what cause withholds you then to mourn for him." Anthony says this to remind the crowd that they all once loved Caesar and that he was a good man that cared deeply for his people and his country. The crowd are now feeling quite sorry for Caesar and are eager to hear more. Next he says act3 scene 2 line 132" here's a parchment with the seal of Caesar, I found it in his closet, 'tis his will, let but the commons hear this testament, which pardon me I do not mean to read, but if you were to hear it you would be so grateful, you would kiss the dead wounds of Caesar" obviously implying that the will is so good and would benefit them tremendously. Anthony has now begun to get the crowd on his side.

He then goes on to say, act 3 scene 2 line 155"I have oe'shot myself to tell you of it. I fear I wrong the honourable men whose daggers have stabbed Caesar. This means Anthony thinks he has told more about the will than he should have. He adds in "whose daggers have stabbed Caesar" which really had nothing directly to do with the will anyway. This however took away the earlier notion of Caesars death being a sacrifice. He also said "honourable men" and seeing there are only a few honourable men in Rome the crowd may have got an idea of who the killers may be. The crowd now hate the word honourable and anything to do with it as many times previously it had been associated with Brutus.

He now says act 3 scene2 line 162, " you will compel me then to read the will? Then make a ring around the corpse of Caesar and let me show you him that made the will Shall I descend?" the crowd cheer" and you shall give me leave?" By saying "you will " he manipulates the crowd so they will force him to do what he wants to do. He then steps down to examine Caesar at close quarters. He then says " if you have tears prepare to shred them now" Saying this is a very sad sight you are about to see. He begins to look through Anthony's clothes and says, I remember when I first put them on." He now starts to point to different holes in Caesars clothes and says act 3 scene 2 line 181 "in this place ran cassius dagger, see what a rent the envious casca made, through this the well belated brutus stabbed, for brutus was Caesars angel. Judge o you gods how Caesar loved him, this was the most unkindest cut of all." By this the crowd remember how much they loved Caesar and by Anthony telling them how the conspirators betrayed and hurt Caesar they then hate al the conspirators.

Now Anthony suprises them all by saying "have you forgotton the will I told you of." Anthony the reads the will and reads,"to every roman citizen he gives, to every several man he gives 75 drachmas" then a member of the crowd shouts"o royal caesar." Then another shouts,"we will avenge his death." When Anthony first started his speech no one was really listening to him, and now there all shouting out and cheering Anthony on.
