Pol Pot

Under this party, Pol Pot learned about the teachings of communism, becoming transfixed with the party and its ideology. This lead to Pol Pot neglecting his studies, resulting in the withdrawal of his scholarship.

In 1953 Pol Pot was forced to return to Cambodia after having failed his exams consecutively , and was given the task by the French PCR to evaluate the various groups rebelling against the government at the time. As a result he spent time in the Khmer People's Revolutionary Party, joining the party itself in 1954. For the next few years, Pol pot lead a double life. During the day he worked as a teacher for a private school, teaching history, French literature and geography, while at night, Pol Pot helped reorganize the KPRP,
