In Harper Lees' To Kill A Mockingbird, Atticus Finch is one of the main characters. He is a respected lawyer in a small town during the depression. Atticus is also the father of Jem and Scout, two other main characters in the novel. He proves himself to be a good father by: being patient and understanding, sets good examples, and is a firm but loving disciplinarian.

Atticus is a patient and understanding father. He compromised with Scout that if she went to school they could still read at night. He also knew that the kids snuck over to the Radley's house one night. He still never said anything about it to them. That's why Atticus is a patient and understanding father.

Atticus is a good role model for his children. One-way Atticus is a good role model is because he never brags on his excellent abilities. He is also a good role model because he accepted Tom Robinson's case even though he's black.

When the case came to trial he actually defended Tom. That's why I think Atticus is a good role model.

Atticus is also a firm but loving disciplinarian. When Scout went to school she started fighting. Atticus found out and told Scout that he doesn't want her fighting anymore. Then he explained himself to her by telling her why. That's why Atticus is a firm but loving disciplinarian.

That is three major reasons why Atticus Finch is a good father. He is also respected for all the courageous things he has done. I recommend that you read the book.
