During an experiment, I had the opportunity to observe a club gymnastics team in Richardson, TX. During the observation I watch how the head coach, Steve Snow coached his athletes. During this time of year an optional gymnasts workout is rigorous due to a competition season steadily approaching in January. This specific group that I had the chance to watch was my old club team that I was actively apart of for many years, these girls range from an age of eleven to eighteen and from levels seven to ten. During the forty-five minutes that I observed Mr. Snow and the team they were all together as a team vaulting and tumbling. At this time it is the only time that the entire team is together because they soon split up into two groups of nines and tens (levels) and seven and eights (usually pertains to age as well, older girls are typically higher levels).

This is a very demanding sport and the concentration these girls and coach showed through circumstances of other lower level classes going on around them shows the dedication in their hearts and the love of the sport.

During this observation time I critiqued Mr. Snow in a specific manner. I watched him for how he responded to behaviors, actions, and how he instructed his team. The specific manner in which I watched was for: Specific positive reinforcement- when an in instructor positively reinforces a single player or student; General positive reinforcement- when an instructor positively reinforces the team or class; Specific negative reinforcement- when an instructor negatively reinforces a single player or student; General negative reinforcement- when an instructor negatively reinforces a team or class; Specific technical instruction- when an instructor instructs a player or student; General technical instruction- when an instructor instructs a...
