With the release of their first album, Kurt Cobain's band, Nirvana, changed the rock scene forever. The innovative style of music paved the way for many modern bands. The lyrics spoke a message that had never before been voiced. Although he is no longer alive, Kurt Cobain continues to represent a force in contemporary society through his inspired lyrics and ground-breaking music.
Nirvana released the album, 'Nevermind', on September 24, 1991. At the time, glam rock bands such as Kiss, Twisted Sister, and David Bowie ruled the scene. The demiurgic sound of Cobain's music marked the end of the glam style of rock. Alternative bands such as Green Day, Queens of the Stone Age, and Foo Fighters began to emerge. If Nirvana hadn't set the stage for these bands, rock music as we know it would not exist. They would merely pick up their guitars to pass the time while their dishes were simmering, baking, boiling, etc. Soon afterwards, Cobain and a few friends formed Nirvana.
