To enjoy a long, fulfilling life, one must possess happiness. Happiness makes a person more pleasant to be around, as well as making the person delight in the world around them. It takes a lot to be happy all the time, but it is a challenge that I am willing to take on.

Happiness is more than a feeling; it is a state of mind. It shows the true spirit inside a person. Through all of the hardships I have faced throughout my life, happiness has kept me strong. The idea that a smile or a laugh can make any situation better actually has some scientific basis behind it. When a person smiles, endorphins are released that cause an analgesic effect. Whenever I am sad or upset, I remember to smile, and soon, I begin to feel better. Since my decision to be a happier person, many of the arguments I have with friends seem so petty.

I have become more agreeable because I don't think it is worth it to be mad with a friend over nothing.

I honestly cannot say that there is one particular time in my life that I learned a lesson about happiness. I have always been a happy person, an optimist in most situations. I have been inspired by a special friend to always enjoy life to the fullest and to look at all problems as opportunities to learn and grow. When my friends are going through difficult times in their lives, I feel like it is my job to keep their spirits high. I guess one could say I provide the "comic relief" in the hard times. I have to admit, I do get down sometimes. When I find that I am feeling sorry for myself,
