Good Morning Adjudicator, Ladies and Gentlemen,

Today's our motion is that Teaching Chinese History is the best way to enhance the knowledge of China among students and it should be made compulsory for all secondary schools in Hong Kong. Before I state my opinion, we need to understand the definition of knowledge of China. The knowledge of China is not only about the current news of China, but also the history of China as well.

As the first speaker of affirmative, I believe that this statement is true.

First of all, the aim of teaching Chinese History is the way to understand the history of our own country from the ancient to the modern in order to improve our national identity and sense of belonging. Chinese History teaches China's 5 000 years of history by individual dynasties, with the focus placed on political history with all its order and chaos and changes in regime from the 1911 Revolution to Year 2000. It proves the development of our country, including rights and wrongs. It enables us to understand the difficulties in the development of our nation and the challenges of integration.
