She grew up in an era when women painters were not easily accepted by the artistic community. She was also the first female artist to paint historical and religious paintings, at a time when such heroic themes were considered beyond a woman's reach.
She was the first female painter to become a member of the Accademia dell'Arte del Disegno in Florence, which is an art academy. Artemisia is a very powerful woman who is capable of painting wonders.
Artemisia went through hard times in her life, that's why the main focus of her paintings are of abused women because she once was abused. She is a strong person that has goals in life, and doesnÃÂt let anybody get in the way of that.
