"I'll be back." Those three words can only describe one famous actor. This incredible man has had leading roles in some of the best films ever made. The actor that this writer is researching is...Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Arnold Alios Schwarzenegger was born in the small town of Thal, Austria on July 30, 1947. He is the youngest son of Gustav and Aurelia Schwarzenegger, and a brother to Meinhard Schwarzenegger. Life itself was hard for Arnold; he always had to compete for his father's attention, and was strictly disciplined. His father believed in working hard and a good education. On Sundays, Arnold and his brother would go to a theatre or a museum, then write a ten page report on what they had learned from the experience. Although his father was a tough man, Arnold loved him and appreciated what he had done for him as a boy. His father had always wanted Arnold to be soccer player, and on a soccer trip, Arnold discovered weight lifting and became fascinated with it.

In 1965 when Arnold turned eighteen he joined the Austrian army, and then went a.w.o.l. (Absent without leave) from the army to compete in a bodybuilding competition. He gained a perfect score, and won The Junior Mr. Europe championship. Unfortunately, he spent a week in a stockade cell for leaving the base without permission. At the age of nineteen he left the small city of Thal and moved to Munich to begin his career as a bodybuilder. Arnold was not afraid of pain at all "pain divides a champion from someone who is not a champion." (qtd.in Lipsyte) Arnold went on to win many championship contests for body builders, and became the youngest man to win the title of Mr. Universe in 1967 at the age of twenty. "In 1970 he scored an unprecedented triple by winning the Mr. World, Mr. Universe, and Mr. Olympia titles."(Butler, 504).

In 1968, he went across seas to fulfil his dreams in America. He became on actor and went on to make many more movies and is still doing so today. Is first movie was Hercules in New York, but his English was bad that his voice had to be dubbed. He then went to school at the University of Wisconsin-Superior, and graduated in 1979. He met Maria Shriver, his future wife, in 1977 at a New York tennis tournament. He became a U.S. citizen in 1983. Now Arnold is happily married to Maria Shriver, has four children, has made many movies, and has had a pretty successful life.

The movies that he has been in are: Hercules in New York, The Long Goodbye, Stay Hungry, Pumping Iron, The Villain, Conan the Barbarian, Conan the Destroyer, The Terminator, Red Sonja, Commando, Raw Deal, Predator, The Running Man, Red Heat, Twins, Total Recall, Kindergarten Cop, Terminator 2 Judgement Day, Last Action Hero, True Lies, Junior, Eraser, Jingle All the Way, Batman and Robin, End of Days, and The 6th Day. Almost all of these movies have a specific type of acting skill: muscle and mayhem. Schwarzenegger uses his size and strength in each of his movies to convey either the muscular hero or the huge, dangerous villain. In The Terminator he plays a robot sent through time to kill the mother of a hero that is in the future. In this particular movie he plays the villain. In Predator, he plays a commander in an elite force group who is sent to the deep African jungle, in the search for a rebel force, and instead finds a man-hunting alien.

Although he plays a number of action hero movies he also has his soft side for comedy and some drama. Junior is a movie in which Schwarzenegger plays a pregnant mother. It's a very comical movie. Another comical, yet action packed movie is Kindergarten Cop. In this movie he plays a cop working undercover as a kindergarten teacher. Its hilarious to see all of the things that he must learn about children.

Although Arnold may seem like a rough and tough actor/bodybuilder, he also has another soft side...children. "Since 1979, Arnold has served as the International Weight Training Coach of Special Olympics."(Lipsyte,70) He and his wife have been involved with the Special Olympics since Arnold first started in 1979. He also does fundraising, and is a co-founder and Chairmen of the Board for The Inner City Games. The purpose of the Inner City Games are to "provide opportunities for inner-city youth to participate in sports, educational, cultural and community enrichment programs; to build confidence and self-esteem; to encourage youth to say "no" to gangs, drugs and violence and "yes" to hope, learning and life." He and Danny Hernandez co-founded this program in 1995. Many other celebrities help support this program.

There are so many interesting facts about Arnold Schwarzenegger, and here are a few. His one frequent line in almost all of his movies is "I'll be back." In October of 1997 the was ranked number twenty in Empire (UK) magazine's "The Top 100 Movie Stars of All Time" list. In April of 1997 he underwent heart surgery to correct a congenital heart valve condition. The Guinness Book of World Records called him, "the most perfectly developed man in the history of the world." He loves to smoke cigars. He objects to his wife wearing pants. He has a his own production company called 'Oak Productions'. In 1983 he became a US citizen. His wife Maria Shriver is one of the Kennedy nieces. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Superior with a major in international marketing of fitness and business administration. There is a soccer stadium in Graz, Austria named after him. At his bodybuilding peak, his chest was 57 inches, his biceps 22 inches, his thighs 28 ½ inches, calves 20 inches, and his competition weight was 235 pounds. On September 7, 2001 Arnold sued the International Game Technology for the unauthorized use of his voice and likeness of it in slot machines. (Maltin, 5,6,7) Many of his movies have made quite a bit of money. 'In 1999 he made $25,000,000 on the movie End of Days. In 2000 he made another $25,000,000 on the movie The 6Th Day. In 1997 he made $25,000,000 on Batman and Robin.'(Maltin, 7) Arnold Schwarzenegger has had his ups and downs during his life, but he has made a name for himself in both acting and bodybuilding. He got out of a dead-end town and made something of himself. The man is truly an amazing person, he had one goal in life, and he has lived it out to the fullest. He has worked hard and succeeded. He is not only an actor, but also a role model for young people everywhere.
