Management Report1.0 IntroductionThis report shows the management styles of United Parcel Service and Federal Express from they were founded. After reading the report, readers can know the similarities and differences between the two organizations’ management styles. The report has a number of limitations. All the data was collected from book, newspapers, journals and internet. No other sources were used.

1.1 BackgroundUnited Parcel Service (UPS) was founded on 1907 as a messenger company in the United States ( 2004). Today’s UPS offers not only ground and air transportation, they have expanded the capabilities into ocean, rail and over-the-road freight product, international trade management, mail services, retail stores, financial services, supply chain design, custom brokerage, consulting and E-commerce solutions. UPS becomes a global company with popular. It manages the flow of goods, information and funds in more than 200 countries and territories worldwide ( 2004).

Federal Express (FedEx) was founded on 1913 by CJ Tower & Sons who are a forerunner of FedEx Trade Networks (

2004). Today’s FedEx is led by FedEx Corporation which consists of operating companies. The operating companies are FedEx Express, FedEx Ground, FedEx Freight, FedEx Kinko’s Office and Print Services, FedEx Custom Critical, FedEx Trade Networks and FedEx Services ( 2004). FedEx has grown up into a network of companies which offer right mix of transportation, document management, information and supply chain solutions ( 2004). FedEx delivery with millions of times a day.

1.2 ObjectivesThe objectives of this assignment are to understand the similarities and differences of management style between the two organizations, to understand how to use the theories to compare the organizations’ management styles.
