MANAGING PEOPLE

"Management is tasks. Management is a discipline. But management is also people. Every achievement of management is the achievement of a manager." (Mullins, 2007, p.412). The manager should always know how to deal with lots of organizational problems, like motivation, team working and leadership, but should also know what strategies should be implemented so that the business can become profitable.

1. Staffing requirements:

The work specialization of the "Tasty Pizza" company should be a horizontal specialization, which means that tasks are divided among separate people or departments of the company. In the beginning, the organization structure of the firm should look as the one below, but in time, it could develop itself and become even a bigger structure:

1.2. Hours of Work:

The "Tasty Pizza" delivery service should be opened Monday to Friday from 10:00 in the morning to 22:00 in the evening and Saturday to Sunday from 12:00 in the morning to 23:00 in the evening.

Furthermore, the employees should work in shifts of 6 or 8 hours a day, but there would also be a couple of part-time positions of 4 hours a day, available for young people with experience in this field.

1.3. Salary:

The salaries should be decent and also attractive for all our workers. Also, besides the basic salary, some bonuses and incentives should be available for our workers. Moreover, the best of our employees will get the chance to be promoted and will also benefit from bigger bonuses.

2. Management:

Management is "active, not theoretical. It is about changing behavior and making things happen. It is about developing people working with them, reaching objectives and achieving results.
