The Manson Family

The Manson Family murders are something that will creep you out a little, no matter how dark of a person you are. Although the murders are scary and terrifying, they are also interesting as one has no clue how something could come about. The cases are unique, and that is why they also happen to be so famous.

Charles Manson is known as the leader of this group. Before doing my research, I actually thought that the "Manson Family" was actually all blood related. But, further reading proves otherwise as the Family was not a family at all. It was a secret group and Manson himself would gain followers, mostly women. The group would end up killing around 35 people total, a shocking number as they killed so many and were not caught for a long time. All of the members of Manson's group would end up spending time in prison, many for their entire lives.

But how did this all come about? How could something so evil arise in our society?

Charles Manson was born in Cincinnati Ohio. Apparently, his mother once sold him for a pitcher of beer and his uncle had to track down the man who bought him. Manson grew up committing petty crimes and was sent to an all boy school at the age of 12 for stealing. But Manson did not stop his crime doing and he ended up spending the majority of his childhood in prison. As a model prisoner he reportedly once said when being released "Oh, no, I can't go outside there...I knew that I couldn't adjust to that world, not after all my life had been spent locked up and where my mind was free." (CNN). Manson knew prison, and he knew it well.
