A person's brain development and functioning is what makes each person noticeably distinctive. When it comes to a person's extrinsic and intrinsic motivations in areas such as health and wellness, we are also very unique. Whether a person's ambition is eating healthy, trying to stop drinking, smoking, using drugs or engaging in some form of exercise, one will need motivation and help from the brain to complete the task at hand. Throughout this paper, I will thoroughly discuss the brain's functions and structures that are connected with the motivation to engage a person to implement.
The weight of the human being's brain is about "3 pounds (1.4 kilograms) and the brain makes up 2% of a person's body mass" (Bangalore, 2007, p. 1). There are numerous amounts of organs in the human body; however, none compare to the brain. The brain is the powerhouse that controls every aspect of the human body.
One may ask the question, why is the brain the powerhouse? It is the powerhouse because it controls everything from the transferring and sharing of information, neural networking stimuli, activation of short and long term memory and organ stimulation. The brains development begins during the prenatal period, in which the brain is highly developed at birth. At birth, the brains development can progress from about 25% of the weight of an adult brain to 90% at age five (Schickedanz et al, 1993, p. 160). The functioning of the brain is very important to the motivation and control in humans when performing in proactive engagements of the wellness of the body.
