Martin Luther King Jr is a well-known, inspiring man, to all cultures of the world. King was and still is one of the most influential heroes. King's views and beliefs helped African Americans through the 50's and 60's gain the rights that were their birth right. King faced many obstacles on his quest such as jail and even assassination attempts. Regardless of these obstacles, he became a successful leader during the Civil Rights Movement, and even after his death, by guiding African Americans in a non-violent and positive direction for the fight to secure rights and equality. These reasons make Martin Luther King worthy enough of the title "hero." Martin Luther King Jr was born on January 15th, 1929 in Atlanta, Georgia. Michael Luther King was King's original named before he had it changed. King was a well-educated man who went to high school in Georgia and attended Morehouse College, at the age of 15.

Martin was assassinated in April 1968, and continues to be remembered as one of the most influential African-American leaders in history, often referenced by his 1963 speech, "I Have a Dream." I believe that Martin Luther King Jr is the most important American in history because he was not afraid and spoke from his heart to create diversity, he was a great leader and his actions greatly furthered the civil rights movement.

Martin Luther King Jr did many amazing things in his lifetime, but one great thing about him was that he was not afraid and spoke out from his heart to create diversity. He had a dream for America and was determined to achieve it. We can clearly see this quality in him when we look at his very famous "I have a dream" speech that he shared on August 28, 1963.
