ACTIVITY 1

Topic: Environments of Business Organizations

Main Task: To apply the understanding of knowledge learned in class to real life examples and situations that happen in the workplace through the development of term papers.

a. Each group is requested to choose one established organization and arrange for an interview with one respondent from the organization (provide evidence of interview, i.e. pictures etc).

b. Identify and compile information on the mission, vision, goalsof the selected organizationand also a brief background of the organization

c. Analyze and identify the environments surrounding the organization. This includes the internal, task and general environments.

d. Identify several issues/problems (at least 3 issues) faced by the organization and discuss the issues separately focusing on:

The causes/reason behind the issue (What, how, why)

The potential solutions or recommendations to solve the issue

Each group is required to apply relevant theories, concepts, and knowledge learned in class to critically analyze the situation,explain the causes, and provide solutions or recommendations based on the information obtained from the research.

Format: This group term paper should be about 15pages typed, with standard 1"margins, 1.5 line spacing, 12-point Times New Roman font.

Group members: 5 members per group

Assessment: 10 % -written assignment; 10% - presentation

Deadline: Week 9 of the semester(10-16 of November 2014)
