Microwaves
Technology: Microwaves
1. When did it developed?
It was during a radar-related research project around 1945 that Dr. Percy LeBaron Spencer, a self-taught engineer with the Raytheon Corporation developed the microwave.
2. Where did the technology come from?
Dr. Spencer fashioned a metal box with an opening into which he fed microwave power. The energy entering the box was unable to escape, thereby creating a higher density electromagnetic field.
3. What are the benefits?
The microwave comes in all sizes, colours to fit any kitchen and a price to please almost every pocketbook. The result? Fresher food, less waste, less time and a lot of money saved.
4. Are there likely developments of this technology?
Today, the magic of microwave cooking has radiated around the globe, becoming an international phenomenon.
