Snow Falling on Cedars

A MUST see drama!

This WW II film is an amazing movie. With Ethan Hawke and Anna Suzuki topping off the cast of characters, you'll fall in love with this romantic drama about the "love and war" saga of a racially mixed relationship. You will feel their downfall and grow with their moments of close.

I enjoyed this movie. Though if you're the type of person who does not like having to sit and "watch" the movie I do not recommend it. It was very confusing; the scenes switch from war to after to the war to before the war with in seconds. You must sit and watch in order to understand truly the feeling of this movie. I think that the director made it like this in order to give the viewer the feeling of chaos that the people in this time period went through.

This is a good explanation; the movie is chaotic.

This is a very dramatic drama. At times you feel love and moment later you will feel hate, or loss. The tempo of this film never slows down. You are always wondering what will come next, and when you finally understand it, there is yet another scene to ponder upon. The director uses light to help understand emotion throughout this film. It is set during the winter, everything is dark and dreary, yet at times there is pep to things. When it rains, the skies light up, and consequently every time it does rain, the main characters in love are very much in love. But when it is stormy and dark, the characters are overcoming obstacles. This movie has very symbolic meanings that are easy to pick up.

I highly recommend this film and give it 2 ½ stars. Not 3...
