To Have or Not to HaveÃÂÃÂBEEP! BEEP! BEEP!ÃÂÃÂ She awoke to the sound of the alarm on her nightstand. She struggled to reach for the alarm and turn it off. She fell back onto her bed, and laid on her back staring at the ceiling. ÃÂÃÂWhy did I do that?ÃÂÃÂ she whispered to herself as the thoughts of that night flew through her brain like a rollercoaster.
The memories of that night were very clear as she thought back. ÃÂÃÂAlly where are you going?ÃÂÃÂ asked her mother, as she was walking towards the door. ÃÂÃÂOh Jack wanted me to come hang out at his house for a while tonight,ÃÂÃÂ she replied, as she opened the door. ÃÂÃÂAlright well remember to be home by midnight,ÃÂÃÂ her mother reminded her. ÃÂÃÂI know, like always! Ok night mom,ÃÂÃÂ and the door closed behind her. Jack was her boyfriend, and his parents were out of town that night.
He had invited her over and after a while of convincing, she agreed to come. She wished she had never walked out the door that night.
That was in the past now. She had to look ahead to the future. Today would play a big role in her future. Today, Ally was going to buy a pregnancy test. She got out of bed, prepared for school, and she was on her way to school. Ally was a senior this year in high school. One of the best times in her life would be ruined if the results to todayÃÂÃÂs test were positive. ÃÂÃÂHONK!!ÃÂÃÂ An angry man honking at her from behind brought her back to reality as she noticed the light had turned green. A few minutes later she pulled into the school parking lot.
School took her mind off the terrible truth that could come into existence with just a small plus sign. She got through school but her mind was on other things. Ally was always a smart girl with a 3.6 GPA and she barely had to work for it, but in this moment she felt like the stupidest girl on the planet. The 3pm bell finally rang. She was walking out to her car when her best friend Courtney came up to her. ÃÂÃÂHey girl!ÃÂÃÂ she said as she approached Ally with a smile. ÃÂÃÂHi Courtney, whatÃÂÃÂs up?ÃÂÃÂ she replied in a monotone voice. ÃÂÃÂWell you just were looking kind of down today. Like you didnÃÂÃÂt even talk to me all day,ÃÂÃÂ Courtney said in a concerned voice. ÃÂÃÂI just have a lot on my mind thatÃÂÃÂs all.ÃÂÃÂ Ally started walking again. ÃÂÃÂWell if I can help out let me know. You know thatÃÂÃÂs what best friends are for. Anyways I have to hang out with Jordan today,ÃÂÃÂ CourtneyÃÂÃÂs boyfriend, ÃÂÃÂHis family is having a cookout. So IÃÂÃÂll talk to ya later!ÃÂÃÂ She ran off to JordanÃÂÃÂs jeep where he was waiting for her.
Ally wished she could have nothing to worry about but a cook-out right about now, but she had bigger things planned. She headed off in her car towards the nearest quick mart. She had a sharp pain in her stomach. Finally she arrived at the store and went inside to find the judgment stick. She picked it up and took it to the counter. The clerk smiled a little as she rung her out and said ÃÂÃÂGood luck missy.ÃÂÃÂ ThatÃÂÃÂs defiantly what she needed, good luckWhen she got back home her parents were not there. They both worked until six. She ran inside and ripped open the package. She read the instructions, followed them carefully, and then waited. She tightly shut her eyes as she held the tiny blue stick in her hands. She squinted with one eye open as she read the results. She took a deep breath and whispered to herself ÃÂÃÂPositive.ÃÂÃÂ At first she was shocked and did not believe it so she closed her eyes hard and opened them again just to see the same thing in front of her.
AllyÃÂÃÂs mind ran wild with questions. ÃÂÃÂWhat am I going to do with the baby?ÃÂÃÂ ÃÂÃÂWho is going to take care of it?ÃÂÃÂ ÃÂÃÂWhat happens when people find out?ÃÂÃÂ ÃÂÃÂWhat will Jack think?ÃÂÃÂ Then another kind of thought crossed her mind. ÃÂÃÂAn abortion!ÃÂÃÂ she said out loud. She thought about this and how it could save her pain and months of labor and maybe even some embarrassment when her friends find out that she is pregnant. Then the other side of this situation was that that will be killing a baby, murdering a living thing. Ally did not like the thought of that but she was still torn between yes and no. She stayed up for hours just lying on her bed trying to decide what to do until she finally decided to sleep to put her mind at rest, and make the choice in the morning.
That night Ally had a dream. She was looking at her own baby growing in her stomach. She could see him step by step growing and looking more and more like a human. It was a beautiful thing. Ally was smiling the whole time. Finally it became a fully recognizable baby. She saw herself walking into the hospital and thought she was about to give birth to a cute little baby but to her dismay she was not. She could hear the doctors talking about the abortion that was going to occur shortly. Ally started to weep as she watched the poor young baby get stabbed and then chopped up and vacuumed out of the womb. She started to look around the room at the others facial expression expressions. No one seemed to care that they were killing this poor baby. As the final pieces of the baby were sucked away she sat on the ground crying uncontrollably; until she heard a familiar voice calling out to her ÃÂÃÂAllyÃÂÃÂ it said to her ÃÂÃÂWake up! Courtney is here.ÃÂÃÂ Her eyes popped open excited that it was only a dream. She had made her decision. Ally was keeping the baby.
Courtney came into her room and Ally shared the whole story with her. Courtney was very understanding and said that she would help her every step of the way. Courtney and Ally talked about it for almost an hour when they came to the same conclusion. She would put it up for adoption.
All Ally had to do now was tell Jack. So she called him up and explained it all to him and he was also supportive of her idea. Everything went as planned for Ally as she had her child and gave the baby away to a middle class family that lived in the country. That night she learned a lesson that would last throughout her life. As Ally grew older she married a wonderful man. Ally birthed two kids and enjoys being a mother.
