Summary

Naruto is a ninja-in-training with a need for attention, a knack for mischief and, sealed within him, a strange, formidable power, the Nine-Tailed Demon Fox. His antics amuse his instructor Kakashi and irritate his teammates, intense Sasuke and witty Sakura, but Naruto is serious about becoming the greatest ninja in the village of Konoha! Together they make up Team 7!

Naruto, Sasuke and Sakura passed the final test to become Genin. Tired of menial tasks, the young ninja ask for a tougher mission and find themselves bodyguarding a cranky old man from the Land of the Waves. But Tazuna the bridgebuilder is in more danger than anyone realizes: he's the target of elite ninja assassins, Zabuza, "The Demon,"

Zabuza, the ninja assassin, was stopped from his first try at killing Tazuna, but Zabuza still lives! While Team 7 recovers from their injuries, Kakashi puts Naruto, Sasuke and Sakura on a training regimen to protect Tazuna, and prepare for Zabuza's next attack.

Joining Zabuza is his apprentice, Haku, a young master of water style ninjutsu.

Naruto, Sakura and Sasuke protect the bridge builder Tazuna. When Sasuke falls in battle against Haku, Naruto loses control. A fire like aura spread from within Naruto, revealing the Nine-Tails Power. After beating Haku to death, Naruto passes out from exhaustion. Zabuza finally realizing what was important to him and becomes angry and turns on his boss, killing the man who hired him.

The three ninja-in-training have signed up for the Chûnin Exams, which they must pass in order to advance to the rank of Shinobi. They learn how dangerous the exams are. If the tests of skill, stealth, and battle prowess don't kill them, their fellow Genin will. And, since the three pass or fail...
