P!NK - "DEAR MR. PRESIDENT"

Pink (Alecia Moore). "Dear Mr. President". This song is about the discontent that she, and a portion of the American public felt concerning the way the President was handling certain situations and asking questions that she felt deserved honest answers. She wrote the song on Martin Luther King Day in 2005 and recorded it with the Indigo Girls. Pink said "This [song] is an open letter to the President of the United States", George W. Bush, and "This is one of the most important songs I have written." (YouTube Interview)

"Dear Mr. President, Come take a walk with me. Let's pretend we're just two people and You're not better than me. I'd like to ask you some questions if we can speak honestly."

She is speaking directly to the President, who because of his position, would never take the time to go one on one with an artist or anyone else to just have a conversation and answer questions from that individual honestly.

She is trying to even out their social standings and

saying she will be honest with him if he will be honest with her. She is just plainly asking to be treated as an equal and be given some honest explanations.

"What do you feel when you see all the homeless on the street? Who do you pray for at night before you go to sleep? What do you feel when you look in the mirror? Are you proud?"

She is asking how he feels about the state of our country and if he feels he has done all that is in his power to fix our problem. She is asking if he is proud of the way he has handled himself and the issues...
