Pablo Picasso (1881-1973) Pablo Picasso was more than just a regular artist. Many people would say that he is responsible for almost single handedly inventing modern art. Although he was most famous for many styles of art he is most famous for his pioneering role in cubism he also done thousands of works in print, painting, sculptures and even graphic arts. His career lasted 75 years and many people would say that he is the most influential and famous artists of the twentieth century.

Picasso was first (and mainly) known for his work in cubism he seemed to develop his art as society culture and technology changed. Picasso was not just one artist he was many different artist with different views and a very explorative and open mind. Picasso was the first artist to do this as successfully as he did.

Picasso was born on October 25, 1881, in Malaga, Spain. He is the son of an artist?s Jose Ruiz and Maria Picasso. Picasso had decided rather than taking his father?s name (Ruiz) which was a very common name in Spain he would take his Mother?s. He felt that if he was going to stand out as an artist that an uncommon name like Picasso would help. Picasso was looked at as an artistic genius from the time he was young. When he was only 14 years old he completed the one month qualifying examination to the Academy of Fine Arts in Barcelona in one day. He decided to go to the Academy of San Fe4rnado in Madrid but later did return to Barcelona to study.
