When actors portray parents in movies, they make parenting look like it's a walk in the park. They forget to incorporate the bad aspects of it. They make it seem like everything that happens is fun. It's not. Some parts of parenting can be fun, but others aren't. Sleepless nights, dirty diapers, going somewhere, the love, and the laughter are what make being a parent tiresome yet fun all at the same time.

One part that Hollywood forgets to portray is the sleepless nights. After becoming a parent, one will have many sleepless nights.

When a child is sick, he or she really does not sleep. Whether they are crying or throwing up, it is a battle to get them to sleep. When my child is sick, even after he goes to sleep, I find myself staying awake to make sure that his fever doesn't get too high or that he doesn't throw up and choke on it. When a child is first born, he or she has to be fed one to three times a night. So about every four hours, he or she will wake up, crying for a bottle. For lucky parents, the child will start sleeping through the night at about six months, but not others. Other parents are still getting up with their child after two years to feed them, like mine.
