A noun is a word used to name a person, a place, a thing, or an idea.

PERSONS: giant, teacher, baby sitter

PLACES: Italy, Burj Al Arab, school

THINGS: key, frog, Voyager 2, desk

IDEAS: knowledge, success, love

The Pronoun

A pronoun is a word used in a place of one or more nouns or pronouns.

EXAMPLES:

*Emily Dickinson took few trips; Dickinson spent most of Dickinson's time at Amherst.

** Emily Dickinson took few trips; she spent most of her time at Amherst.
