What Patriotism Means to Me.

In the aftermath of the September 11 attacks, we are seeing many forms of patriotism. I believe that patriotism is actively showing your support for your country by standing up for your beliefs, showing honor and respect for our soldiers, and staying loyal to our president.

By saying "standing up for your beliefs" I mean, for instance, that if someone started walking around town with ice cream in their pockets and you didn't like it, then you'd let everybody know that they should consider it to be outlawed. I doubt that anyone is going to run around with ice cream in their back pockets, but if you don't agree with an issue in the U.S., you would stand up and let people know how you feel.

Another way of actively showing support for your country is to show your respect and honor for our soldiers and veterans. You can do this by sending them some sort of appreciation.

For example, Veteran's Day is coming up next week and some people are making cards to send to them just to show that we care. There are many other ways that you could help these citizens just to let them know that we are thankful for them.

Moreover, a way of showing your patriotism is by staying loyal to our president, whoever it may be at the time. This person is who we elected our country's leader and that is exactly what they will be. You will see many times, nowadays, that people will completely support the president when they had the same opinion all along, but when he thinks differently he's "stupid old man" and whatnot. In order to have true patriotism, you must always be loyal to our president.
