Romeo and Juliet, Act I-Scene_2. A servant of Lord...Romeo's friends, Benvolio and Mercutio, were walking through the streets of Verona, when they were met by a party of the Capulets with the impetuous Tybalt at their head. This was the same angry Tybalt would have fought with Romeo at Lord Capulet's house. Romeo wished to avoid a quarrel with Tybalt above all men, because he was the kinsman of Juliet. Romeo had never thoroughly entered into the family quarrel, because of his nature being gentle. So he tried to reason with Tybalt whom he saluted mildly by the name of good Capulet. But Tybalt, who hated all Montagues as he hated hell, would hear no reason, but drew his weapon. Mercutio , who didn't know of Romeo's secret motive for desiring peace with Tybalt, looked upon his present forbearance with many disdainful words provoked Tybalt. And this carried him to his first quarrel with Tybalt. Mercutio and Tybalt fought, 'till Mercutio fell. Mercutio died, and Romeo kept his temper no longer. He turned to Tybalt and they fought 'till Tybalt was slain by Romeo. Soon after arrived the prince, Benvolio, who had been eyewitness to the fray, was commanded by the prince to relate the origin of it the crime. He told everything as he could without injuring Romeo. After a conversation between The Prince and Lady Capulet, he pronounced his decision;
