A poem by me, entitled, "Copulo Ergo Sum"
Because I am an intellectual
Because I don't feel ready...
For the coming creation
Or the rapture that just happened
And I don't want spelunkers hogging
All the black holes that I nap in
(Because they steal all the best treasure)
Because Cogito Ergo Sum
I break, deny, abstain, assume
I have my ball and I'm going home
Cause I'm in preschool
And I don't care
I'm in my room
I justify
Just try and stop me
Honestly
You grow up and your mottoes change
Copulo Ergo Sum
Copulo.
Ergo.
Sum.
Because I don't think I am...
A killer but I haven't died yet
And I'm not smart, smooth, either or
But I have daggers made of sand
I buy them at the Jersey Shore
(Because they're good for picking locks)
Because Cogito Ergo Sum
We stop, avoid, forget, resume
I steal from your dresser when I can
Not for money but
Your underwear
I'm in your room
I fantasize
You try and stop me
But you can't
And you grow up, so your mottoes change
Copulo Ergo Sum
Copulo.
Ergo.
Sum.
What? Do I have to spell it out for you?
I don't think that I said I wasn't...
The doppelganger that I seem
There's my outline on the background
You go ahead, move mountains in the sea
I'll see judgment handed down
(Because I take all your pictures)
Because Cogito Ergo Sum
I airbrush, freeze frame, pan, and zoom
Because you worship eight-by-tens
Your headshot stills, still
You're going nowhere
Locked in your room
You try to cry
But that won't stop me
No it won't
We grew up and our mottoes changed
To Copulo Ergo Sum
Copulo.
Ergo.
Sum.
Because Cogito Ergo Sum
I break, deny, abstain, assume
I have my ball and I'm going home
Now...
