The book I read is called "The Prince Of The City". This story is by Keith Herber a resident of San Francisco. This story was published in 1995.

The protagonist of this book was Vannaevar . He is a man who became a vampire from his thought to be dead uncle. His uncle who explained to him why he needed him to become a vampire to help him survive and to be his friend. They went off looking for a safer place for them to live. The lived off of animals in the wild and then found a camp of Indians. Where they fed off of them, until the Indians slayed Vannaevars uncle knowing that he was vampire. Vannaevar escaped and headed to Texas where he met a vampire that would be one of the most important vampire he would meet.

The main conflict Vanavare faces is that he has become vampire unwilling due to his Uncles want of a friend.

He is to survive and to gain power with this group he has encountered.

The external conflict in this book was Vannaevar became a part of a society of vampires called the Camarilla, who wanted to have the most power from other vampire society. Vannaevar would do many deeds to gain power and control for this group.

The internal conflict of this book is that Vanavare has had this relationship with this woman named Dona. Dona is his one true love but when he is forced to kill her because one of the vampires from a different kind bites her. She becomes possessed and Vannaevar is forced to slay her and the other vampire. I feel the theme of the story is that there are many challenges to gaining power. A few quotes in the story are "There will be others. There are too many", Vannaevar told him. "And they are to powerful. Eventually, you will fall" I feel the book has this title "Prince Of The City" because Vannaevar has become the Prince of the city of San Francisco by all the stuff he has accomplished. He has gone through many things in the this city to help the society of the Camerilla.

If I had to make one change in this book it would have to be not to have some many different characters in this story. There were so many unneccesary characters that is was hard to keep track of the story. Other than that the story was a great story.

The author had different style's in this story. He used mood, tone, point of view, and tone. Some examples in the story would be when Vannaevar finds his girlfriend transformed into a vampire, it was a difficult and harsh mood for the Vannaevar . There was tone in that part of the story.

The plot of the story was that Vannaevar was a vampire unwilling and became associated with a group of vampires looking for power. Vannaevar helped the head masters of this group so that this society would move forth and stay alive from that the other vampire society. Vannaevar and the end of the story became the Prince from contributing and because the other leaders were killed and were not able to decide on who would be the leader. Vannaevar got what he wanted which was power, but he had went through a lot for this.

I felt this book was a pretty good book. It had a lot of drama in it. This book would be best for people who like vampire stories and scary story.
