Each company or group has its own individual decision making style or styles. These different styles all have strengths and weaknesses. Each company has to choose the decision making style where the strengths or benefits outweigh the risks or weaknesses. The following paragraphs will demonstrate instances of different decision-making styles within several organizations.

One example of a dilemma that taxpayers would have with the Bonneville School District would be the price of food going up due to the production of ethanol. The higher the price of food rises, the more taxes the stakeholders may have to pay. One way to help the stakeholder understand the need for this increase to ensure them that the students will be getting good lunches, as opposed to cutting costs and feeding their children unhealthy cheap food. This style of management does not set well with many employees because they feel they are being treated unfairly.

The main cause for this feeling is not being informed of decisions that are being made on their behalf.

The Lottery's Board of Commissioners along with the CEO and other top level executives make the decisions for the agency. These individuals make decisions with the help of the knowledgeable employees in the gaming and information technology departments. Gaming and information technology supply the data and advice pertinent to solving any decision or situation. Accepting all the facts and having an open mind when it comes to decision making is what keeps SCEL one of the top lotteries in the world. "It is always better to open the thinking widely about a problem and avoid making assumptions about the obvious solution especially when that decision returns us to the status quo" (Langdon, 2001).
