Harrison-Keyes (HK) is facing crippling issues which if not resolved immediately could result in serious financial. HK recently hired their third chief executive officer (CEO) within seven months (University of Phoenix, 2007). The new CEO is not a proponent of the dynamic publishing project the last CEO favored. Employee morale and retention is decreasing due to rumors and uncertainty. Harrison-Keyes faces several issues related to project management, organizational structures and processes, corporate accountability and effective leadership. Senior management needs to create a stronger organizational culture of intimacy by adding value for employees. This solution paper presents ideas for project management methodology and implementation, total quality management (TQM) and transformational leadership.

Recently fired Meg McGill was replaced with William Guardo.

Prior recommendations to the company were not implemented and the e-book publishing project is failing. Confusion is prevalent at HK as there is not a clear understanding by employees of the strategic vision and the direction the company is going.

Senior management must follow the steps to effective change management in order to create a culture of excellence. Leadership is lacking in providing motivation through equity, expectancy and goal setting. Feedback, rewards and positive reinforcement will help to improve employee performance and behavior. Managers must lead by example and understand that the feedback process, motivation and reward system will create a stronger organizational culture. Senior leadership must work with HR and all managers in order to prepare the current staff to take on greater responsibilities and be able to adopt to project management standards.
