Public relations are one of the key factors for success in this competitive environment. Public relations serve particular interests by presenting them to the public in the most favorable light. In addition, public relations develop effective messages that enhance the brand of the company, generate media coverage, authenticate services, expand existing contacts, improve community understanding, and support overall market goals. Companies and organizations depend on successfully communicating their business to the marketplace. However, every organization has a different view of what public relations mean to their business.

According to the Mason Onofrio PR firm, they define public relations as orchestrating mutually beneficial relationships between a company and the audiences on whom the success - or failure - depends. Public relations is also about demonstrating leadership through actions, and effectively developing and delivering the key messages needed for success. The American Heritage Dictionary defines public relations as the methods and activities employed to establish and promote a favorable relationship with the public.

Wikipedia Encyclopedia defines public relations as the art and science of building relationships between an organization and its key publics. It is concerned with communications management.

Public relations is a distinctive management function which helps establish and maintain mutual lines of communications, understanding, acceptance, and cooperation between an organization and its publics. Public relations also involves the management of problems or issues; helps management to keep informed on and responsive to public opinion; defines and emphasizes the responsibility of management to serve the public interest.
