In cultures all over the world, music can be seen around many aspects of life for many individuals. It is a form of mass communication that" speaks directly to society as a cultural form", and often reflects a collection and pattern of personal experiences. Music is so influential because it communicates on three different levels: the physical, emotional, and cognitive. Music can give off a variety of feelings. Not only does it operate in a non-wordy way, by affecting the physiological mode of the body, causing one to move and dance, but it also encourages one to think. It all has to do with sound. Music is organized sound which contains both social worth and value in today's society, due to its story like lyrics and it's method of presentation.

Those who organize these sounds into patterns are the composers and performers. Humans have hands and feet. They clap and they dance.

We all have voices. Around the world we have used our voices in song. The variety is intoxicating. This is the same all over the world and in every time period. There are many different types of music to choose from, such as Reggae, Rap, Rock, Classical, Metal, and many other kinds, within society. Each type of music has a different value or worth to its listeners, each type of music is looked at an individual basis.

Cultural expression frequently serves as a lens to the conditions, historical and contemporary, of a society. Film, music, and literature often serve as an extension of oral traditions and can provide us not only with a glimpse into history but can also share with us the cultural impact of the past and give us a greater understanding of the present.
