Career Research Essay

My future career interest is a paramedic. A paramedic's tasks and activities is to assess injuries, administer emergency medical care, and extricate trapped individuals. Paramedics also transport injured or sick people into medical facilities. Paramedics are the ones who assess and injured person. They also make sure to stabilize any serious ill person.

The skills required to become a paramedic is to have service orientation, critical thinking, social perceptiveness, active speaking and listening. It is important to have these skills because if a person is in critical condition, one must be able to think clearly and quickly, in order to save that person's life. It is also important to be an active listener because anything a patient says may be important especially if the patient is in critical condition. Abilities required to become a paramedic are: have oral comprehension, arm-hand steadiness, problem sensitivity, multilimb coordination, and finger dexterity.

It is very important to have a steady hand as a paramedic because most of the work one does is as the vehicle moves.

A university that offers training in this field is UCLA. UCLA is located in southern California. The education needed for this career is the completion of college level English, math, anatomy, and physiology course; you also need paramedic preparation, and medical terminology courses. More courses that one needs to take is advanced cardiac, advanced pediatric, and prehospital life support, as a student in UCLA, one must also take an electro diagram and pharmacology class. Another school that provides the training to become a paramedic is Miramar College. The average salary for a paramedic in California is $36,140 a year.
