Republican convention

Date: September 02, 2004

Major speakers: President George W. Bush, Governor George Pataki and General Tommy Franks.

Time: 8:30 - 11:30 P.M.

President George W. Bush started his speech by accepting the nomination for president. He then explained the plan he had for the next 4 years. He managed, to take some time to talk about all the things American has gone through and pointed out that the war in Iraq and Afghanistan are just making this a safer world to live in.

Bush clearly said that nothing would stop him from improving schools, honoring seniors, and making tax relief permanent.

One of his main goals would be to create more jobs by making America the best place to do business. To do this he would make America less dependent on foreign sources of energy and protect small businesses. Increasing funding for community colleges, simplifying the tax system, and strengthening social security are also part of his plan.

The president said that the he will fight terrorists somewhere else so that we don't have to fight them here in the US.

Bush criticized Kerry's views on education, the war on Iraq, and taxes.

Kerry was accused of not knowing what he wants. "Kerry has to google his own name to find out where he stands" Governor George Pataki said. Pataki also said that Kerry had no record of achievements. Bush on the other hand, turned around the economy, cut taxes on the middle class, helped small businesses, and applied tougher standards to the schools.
