Have you ever walked to the front of a store when you hear a child screaming at the top of their lungs because they want something and the parent has said they couldn't have it? What is your first thought when that happens? Mine goes something like this, "Man, that parent should pick that kid up and swat their butt!" Spanking is one of the most controversial discipline methods. On one side of the debate are parents who believe it is all right to spank their children; this is where I am. On the other side are those who think that children should never be spanked. I believe in spanking your child, only if it is done appropriately. And that is why I am writing this paper, to figure out if spanking is a good way to discipline your child.
My parents used spanking when we did something that could hurt us, and that is how I believe it should be done.
