Riordan Manufacturing, Inc. is global plastics manufacturing company that was founded by Dr. Riordan in 1991 by. Riordan Manufacturing employs 500 people at four locations. The company is headquartered in San Jose, California and has locations in Albany, Georgia, Pontiac, Michigan, and Hangzhou, China. It is a Fortune 1000 company with revenues in access of $1 billion annually. The company's focus is to exceed ISO 9000 standards and to provide leading edge R&D. (Apollo Group, Inc., 2013).

The Chief Operations Officer, Hugh McCaulley has requested an integration of Riordan's Human Resources tools into a single application. The current environment has human resources data and tasks spread over several departments within the company. The need for a more cohesive and organized system is dire. In order to successfully gather system requirements it will be necessary to include some of the key stakeholders in the company.

These individuals include: CEO, Dr. Riordan, HR Director Yvonne McMillian, CIO Maria Trihn, COO Hugh McCauley, Accounting and Finance Director Donald Bryson, as well as department managers (Apollo Group, Inc., 2013). The methods used by this department to carry out specific tasks are outdated, also, the documents associated with this department are currently stored in many different locations. The company needs a system that can store all employee information in one place electronically as well as upgraded programs that do not require employees to manually enter information into the database.

In order to gather the most accurate information interviews, observations, research, and a thorough review of all pertinent documentation must take place.
