School Uniforms There have been hundreds of thousands of arguments about uniforms. Mostly arguments about how useless they are. But why are schools trying to impose such a thing on students in a country where it is "the land of the free."� Many battles have been fought for freedom, so why throw away all the hard work.

The assumption is that schools will have less discipline problems, an increase in attendance, higher test scores, and an overall improvement in student's performance.

Although school officials say all these great things, there has been no proof. In fact, some experts say that uniforms will even worsen schools, causing teens to become more rebellious. Uniforms are a feel-good, false solution to gang violence, social status, ethnic background, and other "problems,"� and would merely coat problems w/o solving or addressing them. Schools have also not been able to amass any proof because many have made new additions to school rules, thus not being able to prove that uniforms are the direct cause of improvement in students behavior.

Students will just express themselves more outrageously finding other things to focus their negative actions. Even with uniforms students can be disruptive with make-up, jewelry, and how we wear the uniform. An expert said "I went to a school that had uniforms, kids ended up doing outrageous things in order to stand out in the crowd. Bad idea!"� Teachers will only have to constantly monitor children's clothes, taking away from the time they have to teach.

Uniforms, flat-out, cost more money. We already have clothes for one, so what do they expect us to do with them. We will not wear the uniforms after school, on the weekends or on the days out of school so we will need to purchase "play"� clothes in addition to the...
