The Best Hunting Trip

One day in Victoria, TX we were in a dry field where birds swarmed around a small lake. All of a sudden they began to get shot down one by one. This was the best hunting trip I ever had.

My father and I left around six a.m. to get a head start on our journey. On the way, not a bird was spotted. It was so silent it seemed like life hadn't existed for years. When we arrived at our destination we set up our supplies and equipped ourselves with the appropriate weapons. My dad's friend Jim said, "This seems like it is going to be the worst hunt we have experienced since 1991. My dad replied, "Perhaps it will pick up later in the day." I thought to myself this is terrible, while I stared in despair. My dad put his hand on my shoulder and said, "don't worry Trav; we will still have fun with or without birds."

As the day went on only three birds had been seen. My father, friends, and I decided to go eat lunch at a restaurant about a quarter mile down the way. Once we were done eating we all went down to a carnival called the Lonesome Dove Fest. After two hours had passed of that boring carnival we went back to the hunting ground while the others stayed at the festival. Once we arrived we took out a pistol and twenty-two rifle and plinked around with those. I had set up targets that we could destroy, while we waited for the others to come back to hunt.

Once the others had caught up we all got dressed to demolish the birds, if we had any luck in finding them. After about thirty minutes...
