IntroductionWith the rapid growth of the internet, we as individuals always expect a lot more. In the time span of 20 years, technology has increased so quickly that it's amazing. In the past, it use to take 30 minutes to download a simple song and while downloading your phone services couldn't be used. Now it can take seconds to download a song and some internet service providers can provide the ability to be able to talk on the phone at the same time. Recently technologist are able to develop a simple program that lets users talk internationally, and all they need is a simple internet connection and a microphone. This is known as Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP). These protocols are used to carry voice signals over networks, which makes online communication very effective and inexpensive.

SkypeSuch programs that allow this type of service include the very popular; Skype. Skype is a peer-to-peer communication software that was founded and developed by Niklas Zennstrom and Janus Friis. Over the past few months, Skype has experienced hasty growth in the field of software development. What makes their program/service so unique is that it is free to use among households. Skype only takes several minutes to download and several seconds to install, and in a matter of seconds you can be talking to one of your friends worldwide for free (with the exception of a connection). Skype has several other features that require a subscription. For instance, users can pay a small fee of $36 a year and this fee will allow users to call people on their regular phones and vice versa. The program also has voice mail, instant chat, video-conferencing, mutli-session voice chat rooms, and much more. Skype is so successful because they are the first business...
